More about Whitney:
Whitney Donielson (she/they) was born and raised in Eugene, and has lived here most of her adult life. She graduated from the University of Oregon with a Bachelor’s degree in English, and currently works in higher education providing direct student support.
Several years ago, she took a workshop to learn how to create audio stories. Since then, she has been combining her curiosity about local history and culture and her love of audio storytelling into her podcast, People of the Valley, which tells stories from the Willamette Valley and the people who live here.
In addition to making audio stories, Whitney likes to cook, walk, hike, read, make crafts, and hang out with her spouse and their pets. In 2020, she visited all 100+ city-owned parks and natural areas in the City of Eugene, and is currently working her way through the parks in other Lane County cities and towns.
Our Mission: To serve as stewards of our community’s historical assets while
implementing forward thinking and more inclusive collecting, educational, and
community engagement policies. We strive to augment and strengthen our already rich
resources by seeking out stories and points of view that more accurately represent all
aspects of our unique, diverse and multi-faceted county.
Our Vision: To be a trusted and vibrant county resource where all community members
feel welcome to share their stories, listen to one another, and reflect on how our
histories set us apart and bring us together.
