Diary of Agnes Stewart
Letter written by Elizabeth [ca. 1856]
Letter written by J. D. Willoughby to Agnes Stewart.

Sections 3 and 4 are accounts of crossing the plains in 1853 with their parents from near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Oregon. The poignant diary of Agnes relates a young girl’s thoughts after leaving relatives and friends for a new life in a strange part of America. Elizabeth married Fred Warner in St. Joseph, Missouri, enroute to Oregon, and her letter written later from Oregon adds details of the trip west.
